Dennis Blair, Certified Personal Fitness Trainer; Specialist in Performance Nutrition

Dennis Blair of Core Fitness and Nutrition

Welcome to Core Fitness and Nutrition, LLC. My name is Dennis Blair, and I am the owner/CEO of Core Fitness and Nutrition, LLC. I am a Certified Fitness Trainer and a Specialist in Performance Nutrition in Fort Collins, Colorado.

In 2003, I was in a ‘mid-life crisis’ at 30 years old. I was working in law at the time as a paralegal, and I was completely miserable. I felt working in an office was literally sucking the life out of me!  The life plan I had at the time was to attend law school and obtain my law degree. I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. It seems I was destined to work in the law/business world for my career.  Thankfully, I had an epiphany to change my course in life. (Even though I still find economic policy and theory fascinating. Go figure!)

I knew there had to be another career where I could help people by doing something that I loved. My passion has always been related to all matters of health and fitness and nutrition.  I played football and baseball while growing up in Denver and also participated in wrestling and power-lifting. My life has always revolved around fitness activities, and I continually educated myself on health, fitness and nutrition issues.

I soon came to the realization that I should become a personal fitness trainer to help people become healthy! I became certified through ISSA (ISSAonline.com) and started Core Fitness and Nutrition, LLC.

Our business is helping many clients achieve their long sought after fitness and nutrition goals. We train a wide variety of clients here in Fort Collins, Colorado.  We train clients whose goals are to lose weight, gain muscle, get help with physical challenges, complete sports specific training, etc.  We also work with other professionals in the health industry such as chiropractors, nurses, nutritionists and other fitness trainers to give our clients the best possible tools to obtain all their goals.

I have been completely humbled by the trust, respect and admiration that my clients have shown me. It is truly amazing to see my clients’ lives completely changed through our efforts to make them healthy.  My chosen career is truly a blessing.

Jane Kincaid, Dietitian Technician Registered

At 40 years old, I decided to attend college after becoming a well seasoned mother. I have always loved nutrition and have met many nutritional obstacles with my own family. When I decided to go back to school, nutrition was the logical choice for me. I have a passion for what I do because the only thing I love more than nutrition is helping people.

I am a Dietitian Technician Registered, and I am a practitioner in the field of nutrition. I have a degree
in nutrition and am registered with the American Dietetic Association. I am highly qualified to teach nutrition education. To keep my certification I must take continuing education credits approved by the ADA and get re-certified every 5 years. I am continually learning and keeping up on the newest and and most exciting nutrition discoveries.

I will be working closely with your trainer and members of our team to be sure that all of your individual nutritional needs are met. Our team will be in constant communication with each other to make sure that we take into consideration your current exercise plan and goals. I will use this information to customize your meal planning to be sure you are getting the proper nutrients that will give you maximum benefits from your workout!

I am excited to be a part of your healthy lifestyle change and to be providing you with the knowledge and tools that you need for a lifetime of smart food choices. As you may already know, there are many pieces that fit together to make a healthy lifestyle, and your meal planning is an important piece of the pie so to speak!

I look forward to guiding you on your journey to growing healthy eating habits. I also look forward to helping you with your challenges and motivating you to achieve your goals.

Tom Pettus, Certified Personal Fitness Trainer

“Your life won’t change until you change your life.”

My focus in health promotion and corporate wellness was precluded by a desire to help a broad spectrum of people with one or more programs. I have a passion for creating and maintaining
interesting, informative and effective programs.

I was born in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee and moved to Colorado when I was 4. I ran varsity track at Poudre High School and after badly spraining my ankle, I spent a lot of time in the training room.  I really enjoyed the atmosphere and learned a lot, so I decided to pursue a degree in athletic training.

Money for college was an issue, so upon graduating from Poudre, I joined the Navy. While in the Navy, I was promoted to E-5 within three years, I was selected to join a special forces boarding team, as well as become the only person qualified to shoot torpedoes on my ship. I was honorably discharged in 2004 and immediately entered school for the degree I’d wanted in high school. While I was in, I realized I had a knack for promoting health and a new idea called “corporate wellness” was gaining popularity, so I changed my focus from helping athletes recover to helping America’s workforce maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I graduated from CSU on the Dean’s List in only 4 years with a Bachelors in Health and Exercise Science. I completed internships for the City of Fort Collins Employee Wellness Program and Hewlett Packard’s Corporate Wellness Program; the latter being well known for being a pioneer in this field.

Kandi Lagas, Certified Personal Fitness Trainer

After spending over 15 years in the corporate world and running into road-block after road-block, I knew I had to find an alternative to the world of florescent light cubicles. I had earned my A.A.S Degree in Management and knew that I still wanted to use the knowledge I had gained and change people’s lives at the same time. I decided to take what I was passionate about and turn it into a profession-health and fitness. I began my quest by earning my Personal Training certification through the American Council on Exercise which was soon followed by other certifications; one as a Lifestyle & Weight Management Consultant and another as a certified Spinning Instructor. My passion for health and fitness did not stop there as I prepared in August of 2009 for my first NPC Figure competition. I placed 2nd in both the Novice and Open classes at The Natural Colorado Open making me a Nationally Qualified Figure Competitor-what an adventure!

My only hope is that my drive and enthusiasm for health and fitness are contagious. I will educate, motivate and coach you to make the lifestyle changes you need in order to live a healthier and more fulfilled life. I believe that good nutrition is the key to fueling your body and will educate you on all aspects of health and fitness including both nutrition and exercise. I create each individual program according to your goals and will provide you with the tools to keep that commitment and reap the rewards. I will motivate you to reach your fullest potential and beyond and customize your workouts to prevent boredom and keep your body guessing, thus producing faster results.

“Climb high, climb far, your goal the sky, your aim the star. Perseverance is the investment. Success is the return.”

Dawn Marie Pollard, Certified Personal Fitness Trainer

The ability of the human body to heal, repair, and transform itself through proper nutrition and applied exercise has always amazed me. I have been assisting friends and family members for the last decade to modify their own bodies while working in the corporate world of Medical Office Administration. While I have enjoyed working in medical practices, I knew that I always wanted to become a Certified Personal Trainer; so when I moved to Fort Collins from Wyoming, I made it one of my primary goals and I received my certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

I believe that exercise is an important, integral part of the journey to better health and fitness. Proper nutrition, in conjunction with exercise, is absolutely essential for people to realize their goals of living a more healthful life. As such, I am currently working through NASM on certification in their Solution to Weight Management course. I am also enrolled at Metropolitan State College of Denver to pursue my BS in Human Nutrition – Dietetics, to achieve my next goal of sitting for the Registered Dietician exams.

Every successful nutrition and exercise program starts with a goal, or multiple goals. My passion is to help my clients clearly define their goals and then achieve them. I will motivate and guide you to reach your fitness goals. Together we will design an individualized exercise program that you actually want to participate in and that produces the results that you want to see. We are in this together.

“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals” H. Ford.

Sports, a healthy life style and helping others to achieve their desired fitness goals always fascinated me.
